During the General Assembly at the Virtual Sk8Expo, Jim McMahon, Executive Director for the RSA, cast the unanimous ballot for the new RSA President, Cort Wahlig, and Vice President, Billy Thompson. Cort has spent years of his time dedicated the success of the RSA, serving as officer of Section 11, director for Section 11 from 2011 to 2016 when he was elected as Vice President of the RSA and will now serve as your new RSA President. Billy served under the last three RSA presidents, served as director for Section 12, and has been the guiding force behind the marketing committee for the last six years. Wahlig's goal, first and foremost, is a nationwide marketing campaign that, with the help of member's utilizing the new Kids Skate Free platform, will help us with our reach and partnership with corporations, media and non-profit organizations throughout the country. Other goals include: Increasing membership and continuing to show those skating centers who are not yet members or who have not yet re-joined the association, the financial benefits of being a part of an organization with a vested interest in their success. Encouraging new faces within the RSA committees, which he has already begun doing with 26 non-board members serving on 24 committees. Reaffirming and strengthening partnerships with our current partners including: Pepsi, JBL Trinity ICEE, Hownd, CSA Business Solutions, Cintas, Protect Youth Sports, Schwan's, AirGas and many more. He also will be working to encourage those skating centers who have not yet developed relationships with our national partners to consider doing so - the more members that participate, the better leverage and rates we will receive as a whole. In addition, he plans to develop new national programs through organizations like US Foods to continue to provide members significant savings on their regularly purchased items. Growing the social media campaigns and education for members on how to improve their social media efforts. Continuing the virtual town hall meetings for the benefit of members. These virtual events are learning experiences that members should continue to take advantage of - the resources and knowledge gained is invaluable. Educating members of the 50+ member benefits and resources available to them on the RSA website. Many members do not take full advantage of the resources available to them, including the Kids Skate Free platform developed by Hownd, videos and commercials, marketing materials and educational documents, etc. The RSA website and member benefits far exceed what some members may be familiar with and his goal will be to educate, inform and encourage usage of these benefits. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to contact either Billy or Cort at any time.
