Approximately 140+ rink owners and operators joined us this week as we spoke with Anthony Profaci of JBL Trinity Insurance. For those of you who are not familiar, Anthony has worked for the RSA for 25 years and the RSA and its members are 100% of his business. In this meeting, Anthony discussed the topic of business interruption coverage, why carriers are not accepting these claims, if civil authority ensures that business interruption coverage would kick in, why viruses aren't included in policies and the steps that the industry may need to take from here. Members were encouraged to send an email to their Beth Blaho at BethBlaho@jbltrinity.com with the following information: Nature of your claim: Business Interruption Name of your insured skating center Your rink's physical address Your name Your email address Your Cell phone (you may include your rink phone number, but in the interest of time, a way to reach you immediately is preferred) Date that you were closed down by your city/state 80 members have already submitted their claims. Currently, NJ, NY and OH all have been working on legislation that would require insurance companies to kick in and pay business interruption claims if their businesses were closed due to civil authority and the RSA will be closely watching this situation. If you have not yet visited your COVID19 Business Resource page, we encourage you to do so. This page has proven to be a valuable resource for members.
