2020 Nominating Committe The following information serves as legal notice: An important function of the Roller Skating Association is to elect a President and Vice President who will serve the members for a two-year period. This coming April at our annual meeting held during the General Assembly on April 27, 2020 at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV, we will be electing our new President and Vice President. The RSA Nominating Committee consists of the following individuals: Don Perkins, Past President - Chairman (rollondon@aol.com) Rob Gould, Section Director (rob@interskate91.com) Ed Hughes, Section Director (northlandsk8@gmail.com) Brian Molony, Section Director (brian@rollerworld.net) Chris Finley, Section Director (chris@iskatepc.com) Article VI; Section 3A: Qualifications: An individual must meet and continue to meet the following qualifications in order to be eligible to be elected and to serve on the board of directors: The individual must have been for the preceding five (5) years and must remain a member in good standing, as required by Section 4 of Article II. Such an individual shall have held or be holding office as state, by-state, regional or sectional chapter president, vice president, secretary or treasurer, or shall have held office as a member or officer of the association’s board of directors or, under the former organizational structure, as a national vice president. Nominations from the Floor Members may make further nominations for these offices by submitting a nomination petition to the secretary (Jim McMahon, Executive Director, Roller Skating Association International, 6905 Corporate Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46278) by certified mail, return receipt requested. The petition must be received by the secretary not less than 60 days (February 27, 2020) before the convening of the members’ annual meeting during which the president and vice president are to be elected on April 27, 2020. The petition must: · Designate the person nominated · Include the member rink · Specify the office for which the person is being nominated. · In addition, it must be signed, in one or more counterparts, by at least 15 member rinks and must be accompanied by the nominee’s written agreement to serve, if elected. Because the president and vice president are directors, nominees for these offices shall meet the qualifications for board of directors as established in Article VI, Section 3.A. The secretary must notify all members in writing at least 30 days (March 28, 2020) before the convening of the members’ annual meeting during which the president and vice president are to be elected of all additional valid nominations for president or vice president. At the election, if there were no additional valid nominations for an office, the secretary shall cast a unanimous ballot on behalf of the members for the persons nominated by the nominating committee. ARTICLE VIII. COMMITTEES Section 3. Nominating Committee. The nominating committee shall be constituted as follows, notwithstanding any other provision of these constitution and bylaws: A. It shall be composed of a past president of the Association, who shall serve as chairman of the committee, and four (4) sectional directors. The committee members shall be elected by the board of directors at the semi-annual meeting preceding a members’ annual meeting during which the president and vice president are to be elected. The secretary shall serve as recording secretary without vote. B. The nominating committee shall nominate one candidate for the office of president and one candidate for the office of vice president. C. The committee shall meet after its election during the year in which a president and vice president are to be elected. It shall meet in closed session, but shall consider informal nominations and suggestions submitted by any member of the Association. The report of the nominating committee shall be announced to the members of the Association in writing at least ninety (90) days before the members’ annual meeting during which the president and vice president are to be elected.
