This week's survey indicates that member roller skating rinks are upgrading and income is up for 2015. 72.7% of those roller skating rinks surveyed indicate their total income for the 2nd quarter of 2015 up or down in comparison to 2014. Similarly, 63.6% stated thir total customer numbers are up for 2015 when compared to 2015 numbers. When asked to state percentages up or down for 2015, 46.6% stated they are up between 10-20% In addition, participants were polled on whether or not they updated their credit card terminals. After October 1, 2015, businesses will now be held responsible for purchases made by customers using fraudulent credit cards. The use of cards with "smart chips" and electronic terminals with new technology to read cards with smart chips adds a level of security that protects the business owner, credit card holders, and banks. 54.5% of those polled stated they have already updated their terminals, while 18.1% indicated they have no plans to update their terminals. Participants were asked about their plans to attend Sk8 Expo - 54.5% stated they have plans to attend. When asked if they handed out free passes or discount cards to local schools at the end of the year and what the overall redemption return rate was for 2015, as well as the return rates for 2014 and if it was up, down or the same, participants indicated school passes are up 14% for June this year from last. So far, return rate appears to be approximately 3-5% average. One rink put their passes on their website with unlimited downloads and average 50-70 PER DAY. They are getting triple back total from any other year since being offered on their website and app. Overall, the first 1/2 of 2015 has proven to be a profitable one for many Roller Skating Association rinks!
